We here at Carolina Bus Sales, Inc. have been approached by a few people in the past year looking for a school bus to turn into a tiny home. Here is a story of a newlywed couple who did just that.
Not every couple has the same hopes and dreams of finding the perfect house with a picket fence. Not all houses are the same shape and size, as the picture above shows. Some have pools, some have wheels!
Instead of buying a fixer-upper for their first home, one New England couple went the opposite way. They spotted a 1984 Bluebird school bus on the side of the road that was headed for the junk heap. Where most people saw trash, they saw treasure – and paid for the bus in cash. The couple the outfitted the bus with shelving, seating, and even constructed a minimalist-style bathroom. They kept the bus’s original white color, but replaced the blue sticker with a strip of copper. For powering the bus, they installed solar panels on the roof. All the lumber used for the project was salvaged and repurposed.
The young couple plans to drive the new home-on-wheels across the country from the east coast to the west coast. Now that’s an amazing first home!!
